Getting Ready for the Bay Area Open 2014

Since cancellation to the Golden Throne GT we've turned our attention to going to Bay Area Open. Ticket ready since I had bought it for the GTGT months in advance. I went to the Las Vegas Open in the beginning of the year and enjoyed to the max how well Frontline Gaming runs their events. The mats they have make the tables look gorgeous and their terrain is on point. We will be attending the BAO with around 10 players from our team SixSixOne including Team Captain Brawl in the Fall winner Jesse Morales.

So I've come to the conclusion that I will be representing Space Marines at the BAO GT. White Scars to be exact.

Land Speeder Storm

This gives me 18 objective secured units that don't show up til Turn 2. Its just so hard to kill 50 marines and 5 Rhinos in 7th. The scouts can go to ground for a 2+ cover in Ruins on an objective. If its the Ruin that the Techmarine buffs up they don't even have to go to ground.

Gives all the ICs T7 once attached. Great for killing infantry.

Such an awesome unit to drop in Turn 1 and get 1st Blood.

Im about 1/3 done painting the army. I've been getting as much practice games that I can now that the missions are out for the BAO. Im stoked and ready to go. Less than 2 months left. Hope to see you guys there.

Golden Throne GT Practice Battle Report

Lately I've been wanting to test out my draft list for my GT. Today I had the chance when my buddy Alan asked if he could come over and get a game in. I was ecstatic to play a game in my newly built terrain.

My list. The Golden Throne Gt will be allowing Double Force Org and I've been building my list towards that. On to my list.

Alan rolled Scriers Gaze, Misfortune and a Csm power. We roll off and Alan chooses to go first.

Mission is Emperor's Will

I chose not to seize.

Turn 1. He hides his sorcerer under a level in his left ruin so that I can Orbital him. He moves his wraithstar into the building and spreads out to mitigate my bombing next turn.

Bottom Turn 1- I pass Prescience, Perfect Timing and Forewarning with Tigurius on my squad with centurions, Calgar and Shield Eternal Master. 

I pass Prescience into Coteaz, Clan Master, and Storm Shield Master.

I shoot 3 Orbitals but 2 scatter off even with rerolls, 5 Lascannons, 5 Missile Launchers and Calgar's Guantlet into hisDest Lord and Wraiths.

He takes two wounds on the lord and loses 4 wraiths to instant deaths wounds. Incoming!!!!

Top Turn 2 - With Scryers Gaze up he gets leave his cultists in reserves and all 7 of his flyers come in. Yikes!! I almost freaked out.

Dark Eldar Painting Project

After a hiatus I got the painting itch. I really wanted to paint Dark Eldar. I found my buddy Devon that wanted to trade Dark Eldar so I traded him for some of my spare space marine bikes and some spare Daemons units I wasnt using.

I got the following from the trade.
3 Venoms
2 Ravagers
1 Razorwing Jetfighter
1 Void Raven Bomber

And I got to painting right away. Here are some pics of the basecoats. Decided to go with Green and White colors. They blend well together.

This year has been full of GTs. Some have come and more are on the way. The next GT I will be attending is the Golden Throne GT Prime in Pleasanton Ca. It's on Aug 1-3. A 2000 pts Double Force Org Gt. Everything goes besides Escalation and I believe a few Stronghold are out.

I have the 4 Chapter Masters with the Tau Commander and Centurions. Throw 4 Orbitals per game that ignore cover and twin linked. With Iron Hands I will  be getting 6+ Feel No Pain and It Will Not Die on my Masters. Ill use the Riptide to take out a flyer here and there and taking out infantry with SMS. Troops are weak but Ill keep them in reserve and then go after objs. The Centurions will be my tank busters and when I can Ill shoot frag missiles at infantry. 

This GT is known for taking nasty lists as we saw last year. Im expecting alot many Double Force Org lists its gonna get crazy. Hope to see you guys all there.
